Why we ask about your child
The questions help a person on our team choose books your child is likely to enjoy. It takes about 3 minutes.
What the questions are, and are not
They are about what you have noticed at home. They are not a test, an assessment or a diagnosis, and there are no wrong answers. Every question you might not know the answer to has a “Not sure” option.
You see 6 to 9 questions. Which ones depends on your child's age and how they enjoy books, so the parent of a toddler is never asked what their child reads alone.
What we ask, and why
- How your child enjoys books right now
- Tells us whether to choose books to read aloud together, early readers, or books they read alone.
- Languages your child understands
- Sets which languages the books can be in.
- Languages for reading aloud, or languages they read
- Younger children: the languages you like to read aloud in. Readers: the languages they read on their own.
- Language mix (multilingual homes)
- Whether you would like mostly one language or a mix in each box.
- How your toddler explores books (ages 2 and 3)
- Whether they look at or play with books yet, and how, plus the kinds of books and themes you would like to introduce.
- Interests
- Topics your child is into these days, so the books feel like theirs.
- Kinds of books
- Board books, picture books, chapter books, comics and more, depending on age.
- Recent favourites (optional)
- Books, characters or shows they loved, which help us choose similar ones.
- Anything to avoid
- Themes you would rather we leave out.
- Story length or reading journey
- How long they stay with a story, or how you would like their reading to grow.
What we do with your answers
Only our team uses them, to choose your child's books. Your answers are never sent to analytics tools. See our privacy policy for details.
